I recently read an article that said if we tell our kids we love them twice a day, by the time they’re 10 years old they will have heard you say it 7300 times.  Media research says that they receive up to 3000 messages per day telling them they are too fat, too skinny, too ugly, too tall, too short, too boring and on and on it goes… By the time they are 10 they have heard those messages 10, 950, 000 times… So, which messages are influencing our young people more?

I truly believe that the LOUDEST voice in our world is the thoughts that we think.  Yes the media, parents, teachers, friends, social media etc all influence our thinking, however ultimately the thoughts we think will play out in our lives.  Who we think we are is what we will eventually become.  Our thoughts are powerful and it is so important that we learn to think about what we are thinking about!

I am more passionate than ever about empowering a generation to think again.

Our society is about an instant fix, the click of a button often without thinking about the repercussions that are involved, young people are getting caught up in all sorts of online behaviour without realising the dangers involved and thinking through the consequences.  The way we think we should be is dictated by all sorts of media and peer pressure and has left us with a generation searching for acceptance yet trying to find it in all the wrong ways.

We need to keep encouraging these young people to think before they post, to dream big dreams but also train them to work hard and be resilient, to learn how to look after their emotional wellbeing and learn how to utilise and deal with stress, to build their character and integrity and to find their value in who they truly are and in the incredible impact they can have as they help others… I absolutely love speaking to students about these sorts of things and inspiring them to believe in themselves!

I applaud you in the work you do, in aiming to educate, motivate, train and empower these young minds and I encourage you to keep it up!

If you are interested in finding out more about how I can come and meet a need with your students / parents, please get in touch, I would love to help you.
